Flight Bird

AI-based customer monitoring CRM
PROJECT OVERVIEW

Flight Bird is a cabin analytics web application designed for a major Australian airline. The platform provides a real-time snapshot of who’s on board: where they’re seated, how many bags they’ve checked, their age and gender distribution, and more.

But this isn’t just a dashboard — it’s a decision-making tool. From operational insights to marketing opportunities, Flight Bird transforms raw flight data into clear, actionable recommendations across departments.

Client: Australian Airline

Product: Web Application

THE CHALLENGE

Airlines collect massive amounts of data - but much of it sits underused in spreadsheets and outdated systems. Our client needed  single, visual interface that could:

1. Show who is flying (by gender, age, baggage);

2. Highlight where each demographic is seated;

3. Visualize class distribution and trends over time;

4. Deliver insights that different teams could act on - fast.

OUR GOALS

To design a product that does more than display data - it unlocks value from it. We focused on:

1. A clear, minimalistic, interactive interface for exploring passenger data;

2. Real-time filtering by demographics ans seat class;

3. Visualizing seating and class occupancy by category;

4. Visualizing seating and class occupancy by category;

5. Surfacing trends compared to previous flights;

6. Delivering recommendations for analytics, marketing, and operations.

OUR APPROACH

We designed a visual-first experience where users can explore data from multiple angles - quickly and intuitively.

1. Interactive seating map showing exactly where people sit, filterable by gender, age and more;

2. Class-based visualizations showing percentage distribution across business, premium, extended, and economy classes;

3. Trends highlighting differences from previous flight on the same route;

4. Smart AI-based tips that help the company make quick and correct decisions.

Users can drill down by selecting gender or age groups and immediately see how this affects seat distribution, class preferences, and baggage load.

Flight Bird isn’t just about what the data says - it’s about what to do next.

RESULTS & OUTCOMES

Even in early implementation stages, Flight Bird showed immediate value:

1. Reduce analysis time by 65%;

2. Increased decision-making speed for marketing and ops teams;

3. High usability rating from internal airline testers;

4. Designed for easy scaling across fleet and route networks;

Flight Bird
BY THE NUMBERS
65 %
faster analysis time
for operations teams after adopting the platform, compared to previous manual methods. This shift dramatically improved situational awareness and shortened decision-making cycles across departments.
34
airline staff
in analytics, marketing, and cabin operations actively used the platform during internal testing. High engagement during testing signaled strong cross-functional adoption potential from day one.
4
months
to move from the initial kickoff meeting to the successful launch of the first version of the platform — covering everything from discovery and planning to design, development and deployment.
+12 %
increased profit
thanks to the implementation of recommendations provided by the platform in the form of marketing offers, selection of age- and gender-appropriate content, as well as goods and services.
CONCLUSION
Flight Bird is a powerful example of how thoughtful design can turn data into strategy. We didn’t just create a dashboard - we built a tool that helps teams think clearly, act faster, and serve passengers better.
